Please note that the cost of a MBWeek depends on the number of participants. Those who cancel out of a MBWeek for which they were confirmed may still be obligated to cover certain expenses: e.g., if any non-refundable payments had been made on their behalf, or if their cancellations result in higher per-person costs for shared trip expenses.

Minnesota Birding Weekends / Weeks (MBW) is covered by general liability insurance, but it has been suggested that MBW participants also agree to some sort of Release. So, here it is. It's pretty obvious that I'm not a lawyer, but at the same time I don't want to scare anyone off with too much "legalese." At present, there are no plans to have participants actually sign anything.
I would hope that all MBW participants are willing to accept this formality, which unfortunately has become almost a necessity of life in recent years, and I am confident that our 27th season will again be without incident or accident, just as our first 26 years have been. (By the way, the insurance policy includes coverage for so-called false advertising....so, if we fail to see some bird included in an MBW's description, you can now sue me for up to a million dollars!)
MBW PARTICIPANTS' ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISK AND RELEASE
All those who register for a Minnesota Birding Weekend / Week (MBW) recognize that there is a small risk associated with MBWs, certify that they are capable of participating in them, and assume full responsibility in the event of personal injury, loss, or damage to personal property during a MBW. In consideration of having their registrations confirmed for a MBW, all those attending will hold Minnesota Birding Weekends /Weeks and its leaders harmless for any injury, loss, or damage involving any of the participants during the MBW. Further, those volunteering to drive a vehicle during a MBW recognize and agree that they are covered by their personal automobile insurance.
